New English Translation
16 But avoid profane chatter,[a] because those occupied with it will stray further and further into ungodliness,[b] 17 and their message will spread its infection[c] like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are in this group.[d] 18 They have strayed from the truth[e] by saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and they are undermining some people’s faith.

Among them are Hymenaeus(B) and Philetus, 18 who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place,(C) and they destroy the faith of some.(D)
