Genesis 4:7-9
English Standard Version
7 (A)If you do well, will you not be accepted?[a] And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. (B)Its desire is contrary to[b] you, but you must rule over it.”
8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother.[c] And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and (C)killed him. 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, (D)“I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?”

New International Version
7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door;(A) it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.(B)”
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”[a] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.(C)
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”(D)
“I don’t know,(E)” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
