17 And David said to God, “Is it not I who [a]commanded to count the people? Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and acted very wickedly, (A)but these sheep, what have they done? Lord, my God, just let Your hand be against me and my father’s household, and not against Your people as a plague.”

17 David said to God, “Was it not I who ordered the fighting men to be counted? I, the shepherd,[a] have sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep.(A) What have they done? Lord my God, let your hand fall on me and my family,(B) but do not let this plague remain on your people.”
