So for a second time they summoned the man who had been blind, and said to him, “(A)Give glory to God; we know that (B)this man is a sinner.” 25 He then answered, “Whether He is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” 26 So they said to him, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?” 27 He answered them, “(C)I told you already and you did not (D)listen; why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become His disciples too, do you?” 28 They spoke abusively to him and said, “You are His disciple, but (E)we are disciples of Moses. 29 We know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, (F)we do not know where He is from.” 30 The man answered and said to them, “Well, here is the amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes! 31 We know that (G)God does not listen to sinners; but if someone is [a]God-fearing and does His will, He listens to him. 32 [b]Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. 33 (H)If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.” 34 They answered him, “(I)You were born entirely in sins, and yet you are teaching us?” So they [c](J)put him out.

A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,”(A) they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”(B)

He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”

He answered, “I have told you already(C) and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”

Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!(D) 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”(E)

The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.(F) 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God,(G) he could do nothing.”

To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth;(H) how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.(I)
