Prologue

1 In the beginning^(A) was the Word,^(B) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.^{(C) 2} He was with God in the beginning.^(D)

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.”^(A)

² In these last days,^(A) he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things^(B) and made the universe^[a](C) through him. ³ The Son is the radiance^[b] of God’s glory and the exact expression^[c] of his nature,^(D) sustaining all things by his powerful word.^(E) After making purification for sins,^[d] he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.^[e](F)
