⁵ “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much ^(A)fruit; for without Me you can do ^(B)nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, ^(C)he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words ^(D)abide in you, ^(E)you^[a] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

^10 (A)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

The Truth Shall Make You Free

³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you ^(A)abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. ³² And you shall know the ^(B)truth, and ^(C)the truth shall make you free.”

³³ They answered Him, ^(D)“We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(A)whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood ^(A)abides in Me, and I in him.

^6 (A)He who says he abides in Him ^(B)ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, ^(A)who also ^(B)sat at ^[a]Jesus’ feet and heard His word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

⁴¹ And ^[b]Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. ⁴² But ^(C)one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

²⁶ And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

²⁰ But ^(A)you have an anointing ^(B)from the Holy One, and ^(C)you^[a] know all things.
