³⁷ And the Father Himself, who sent Me, ^(A)has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, ^(B)nor seen His form. ³⁸ But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. ^39 (C)You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and ^(D)these are they which testify of Me. ^40 (E)But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

⁸ But what does it say? ^(A)“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):

¹⁰ if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

The Choice of Life or Death

¹¹ “For this commandment which I command you today ^(A)is ^[a]not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. ^12 (B)It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹³ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹⁴ But the word is very near you, ^(C)in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

^13 (A)He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called ^(B)The Word of God. ^14 (C)And the armies in heaven, ^(D)clothed in ^[a]fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. ¹⁵ Now ^(E)out of His mouth goes a ^[b]sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And ^(F)He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. ^(G)He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. ¹⁶ And ^(H)He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

^(I)KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.

The Eternal Word^(A)
