John 19:24

²⁴so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” ^(A)This was to fulfill the Scripture which says,

^(B)“They divided my garments among them,
and for my clothing they cast lots.”

So the soldiers did these things,

²⁴“Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled^(A) that said,

“They divided my clothes among them
and cast lots for my garment.”^[a]^(B)

So this is what the soldiers did.
