²⁰ The person who ^(A)sins will die. A ^(B)son will not suffer the punishment for the father’s guilt, nor will a father suffer the punishment for the son’s guilt; the ^(C)righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

For why should you die, house of Israel? ³² For I take ^(D)no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live!”

¹¹ Say to them, ‘^(A)As I live!’ declares the Lord ^[a]God, ‘I take ^(B)no pleasure at all in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked ^(C)turn from his way and live. ^(D)Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then should you die, house of Israel?’
