7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it sought. No, but yet the chosen ones have obtained it. The rest are blinded, 8 as it is written: God has given them the spirit of unquietness: eyes so that they cannot see, and ears so that they cannot hear, until this day. 9 And David says, Let their table be made a snare to take them with, and an occasion to fall, and a reward to them.

New International Version
7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain.(A) The elect among them did, but the others were hardened,(B) 8 as it is written:
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that could not see
and ears that could not hear,(C)
to this very day.”[a](D)
9 And David says:
“May their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
