10 (C)For there are many (D)rebellious people, (E)empty talkers and deceivers, especially (F)those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting (G)whole families, teaching (H)things they should not teach (I)for the sake of [b]dishonest gain. 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “(J)Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason (K)reprimand them (L)severely so that they may be (M)sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish (N)myths and (O)commandments of men who (P)turn away from the truth.

Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good

10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk(C) and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.(D) 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households(E) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets(F) has said it: “Cretans(G) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[a] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke(H) them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith(I) 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths(J) or to the merely human commands(K) of those who reject the truth.(L)
