32 The Lord shall return his blood upon his own head, for he attacked two men more righteous and better than he—Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah—and killed them with the sword when my father David was unaware. 33 Therefore their blood shall return upon the head of Joab and upon the head of his seed forever, but upon David and upon his seed and upon his house and upon his throne shall the peace of the Lord rest forever.”
34 So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and attacked and killed him, and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

New International Version
32 The Lord will repay(A) him for the blood he shed,(B) because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them—Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa(C) son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army—were better(D) men and more upright than he. 33 May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the Lord’s peace forever.”
34 So Benaiah(E) son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab(F) and killed him, and he was buried at his home out in the country.
