¹⁹But the people refused^(A) to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want^(B) a king^(C) over us.

¹⁹Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

²⁸I look but there is no one^(A)—
no one among the gods to give counsel,^(B)
no one to give answer^(C) when I ask them.

²⁸For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
