³⁹ When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Praise the Lord who championed my cause against Nabal’s insults^(A) and restrained His servant from doing evil.^(B) The Lord brought Nabal’s evil deeds back on his own head.”^(C)

Then David sent messengers to speak to Abigail about marrying him.

³³ Their blood will come back on Joab’s head and on the head of his descendants forever, but for David, his descendants, his dynasty, and his throne, there will be peace from the Lord forever.”^(A)
