³² In those days the ^(A)Lord began to cut off pieces from Israel; and ^(B)Hazael ^[a]defeated them throughout the territory of Israel: ³³ from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, the Reubenites, and the Manassites; from ^(C)Aroer, which is by the Valley of the Arnon, that is, ^(D)Gilead and Bashan.

¹⁷ Then ^(A)Hazael the king of Aram went up and fought against Gath and captured it, and ^(B)Hazael ^[a]was intent on going up against Jerusalem.

^3 (A)So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He continually handed them over to ^(B)Hazael king of Aram, and to ^(C)Ben-hadad, the son of Hazael.

⁷ For he left to Jehoahaz no more of the ^[a]army than fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand infantry, because the king of Aram had eliminated them and ^(A)made them like the dust at threshing.
