Paul Selects Timothy

16 Then he went on to Derbe and Lystra, where there was a disciple named Timothy,^(A) the son of a believing Jewish woman,^(B) but his father was a Greek.

⁴ He was accompanied^[a] by Sopater son of Pyrrhus^[b] from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy,^(A) and Tychicus^(B) and Trophimus^(C) from Asia.

¹⁷ This is why I have sent^(A) Timothy to you. He is my dearly loved and faithful^(B) son in the Lord. He will remind you about my ways in Christ Jesus, just as I teach everywhere in every church.

¹⁰ If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear from you, because he is doing the Lord’s work,^(A) just as I am.
