²⁸ The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and mental confusion, ²⁹ so that at noon you will grope as a blind man gropes in the dark.^(A) You will not be successful in anything you do. You will only be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will help you.

¹⁸ When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Please strike this nation with blindness.” So He struck them with blindness,^(A) according to Elisha’s word.

¹¹ Now, look! The Lord’s hand is against you.^(A) You are going to be blind, and will not see the sun for a time.” Suddenly a mist and darkness fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
