² and you ^(A)return to the Lord your God and ^[a]obey Him ^(B)with all your heart and soul in accordance with everything that I am commanding you today, you and your sons,

⁸ And you will again ^[a]obey the Lord, and ^[b]follow all His commandments which I am commanding you today.

³ Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “^(A)If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then ^(B)remove the foreign gods and the ^(C)Ashtaroth from among you, and ^(D)direct your hearts to the Lord and ^(E)serve Him alone; and He will save you from the hand of the Philistines.”

^8 (A)if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will ^(B)relent of the disaster that I planned to bring on it.

¹¹ So now, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am ^(A)forming a disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Now ^(B)turn back, each of you from his evil way, and ^[a]correct your ways and your deeds!”’

¹⁵ Also I have sent to you all My ^(A)servants the prophets, sending them again and again, saying: ‘^(B)Turn now every person from his evil way and amend your deeds, and ^(C)do not follow other gods to worship them. Then you will ^(D)live in the land which I have given to you and to your forefathers; but you have not ^(E)inclined your ear or listened to Me.

⁸ But every person and animal must be covered with sackcloth; and people are to ^(A)call on God vehemently, and they are to ^(B)turn, each one from his evil way, and from the violence which is in their hands.
