Sons and Heirs

4 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave,^[a] though he is the owner of everything,

⁷ So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then ^(A)an heir through God.

¹⁷ and if children, then ^(A)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, ^(B)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

⁶ This mystery is^[a] that the Gentiles are ^(A)fellow heirs, ^(B)members of the same body, and ^(C)partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

²⁸ Now you,^[a] brothers, ^(A)like Isaac, ^(B)are children of promise.

^2 (A)in hope of eternal life, which God, ^(B)who never lies, ^(C)promised ^(D)before the ages began^[a]

¹⁵ Therefore he is ^(A)the mediator of a new covenant, so that ^(B)those who are called may ^(C)receive the promised eternal inheritance, ^(D)since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.^[a]
