⁵ Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that ^(A)every intent of the thoughts of ^[a]their hearts was only evil continually.

⁶ Now Noah was ^(A)six hundred years old when the flood of water ^[a]came upon the earth. ⁷ Then ^(B)Noah and his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the waters of the flood. ^8 (C)Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that crawls on the ground, ⁹ they all went into the ark to Noah ^[b]by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. ¹⁰ Now it came about after ^(D)the seven days, that the waters of the flood ^[c]came upon the earth. ¹¹ In the ^(E)six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all ^(F)the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the ^[d]floodgates of the sky were opened. ^12 (G)The rain ^[e]fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

¹³ On this very same day ^(H)Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, ¹⁴ they and every animal according to its kind, and all the livestock according to ^[f]their kind, and every crawling thing that crawls on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, ^[g]all sorts of birds. ¹⁵ So they went into the ark to Noah, ^(I)by twos of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. ¹⁶ Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed the door behind him.

¹⁷ Then the flood ^[h]came upon the earth for ^(J)forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. ¹⁸ The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark ^[i]floated on the ^[j]surface of the water. ¹⁹ And the water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains ^[k]everywhere under the heavens were covered. ²⁰ The water prevailed ^[l]fifteen cubits higher, ^(K)and the mountains were covered. ²¹ So ^(L)all ^[m]creatures that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, animals, and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; ²² of all that was on the dry land, all ^(M)in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. ²³ So He wiped out ^[n]every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from mankind to animals, to crawling things, and the birds of the sky, and they were wiped out from the earth; and only ^(N)Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark.

^26 (A)And just as it happened ^(B)in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man: ²⁷ people were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, and they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ^28 [a]It was the same as happened in ^(C)the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, and they were building; ²⁹ but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and ^[b]brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ It will be ^[c]just the same on the day that the Son of Man ^(D)is revealed. ³¹ On that day, the one who will be ^(E)on the ^[d]housetop, ^[e]with his goods in the house, must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one in the field must not turn back. ^32 (F)Remember Lot’s wife. ^33 (G)Whoever strives to ^[f]save his ^[g]life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will keep it. ³⁴ I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. ^35 (H)There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. ³⁶ [^[h](I)Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.”] ³⁷ And responding, they *said to Him, “Where, Lord?” And He said to them, “^(J)Where the body is, there also the ^[i]vultures will be gathered.”
