¹² so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.^(A)

¹⁷ Obey your leaders^[a] and submit to them, for they keep watch^(A) over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
