²² Therefore this is what the Lord, who redeemed^(A) Abraham,^(B) says to the descendants of Jacob:

⁴ I will place shepherds^(A) over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid^(B) or terrified, nor will any be missing,^(C)” declares the Lord.

²⁵ “‘I will make a covenant^(A) of peace^(B) with them and rid the land of savage beasts^(C) so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety.^{(D) 26} I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing.^[a](E) I will send down showers in season;^(F) there will be showers of blessing.^{(G) 27} The trees will yield their fruit^(H) and the ground will yield its crops;^(I) the people will be secure^(J) in their land. They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke^(K) and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.^{(L) 28} They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety,^(M) and no one will make them afraid.^(N)
