¹⁹ If anyone goes out the doors of your house, his death will be his own fault,^(A) and we will be innocent. But if anyone with you in the house should be harmed, his death will be our fault.

³⁹ When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord who championed my cause against Nabal’s insults^(A) and restrained his servant from doing evil.^(B) The Lord brought Nabal’s evil deeds back on his own head.”^(C)

Then David sent messengers to speak to Abigail about marrying him.

³⁷ On the day you do leave and cross the Kidron Valley,^(A) know for sure that you will certainly die. Your blood will be on your own head.”^(B)

⁴⁴ The king also said, “You yourself know all the evil that you did to my father David.^(A) Therefore, the Lord has brought back your evil on your head,

¹⁰ But as for me, I will not show pity or spare them.^(A) I will bring their conduct down on their own heads.”^(B)

²¹ But as for those whose hearts pursue their desire for abhorrent acts and detestable practices, I will bring their conduct down on their own heads.”^(A) This is the declaration of the Lord God.

¹⁹ “‘Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: As I live, I will bring down on his head my oath that he despised and my covenant that he broke.
