²² Now Gideon ^(A)perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord. So Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord God! ^(B)For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face.”

⁸ Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my ^[a]vigor was turned to ^[b]frailty in me, and I retained no strength.

⁹ And ^[a]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, ^(A)and they were greatly afraid.

⁴ And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?”

So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

¹⁷ And ^(A)when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But ^(B)He laid His right hand on me, saying ^[a]to me, “Do not be afraid; ^(C)I am the First and the Last.
