¹² “In everything, ^(A)therefore, ^[a]treat people the same way you want ^[b]them to treat you, for ^(B)this is the Law and the Prophets.

³⁹ The second is like it, ‘^(A)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ^40 (B)Upon these two commandments ^[a]hang the whole Law and the Prophets.”

^41 (C)Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question: ⁴² “What do you think about the ^[b]Christ? Whose son is He?” They *said to Him, “^(D)The son of David.” ⁴³ He *said to them, “Then ^[c]how does David ^[d](E)in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying,

⁴⁵ Therefore, if David calls Him ‘Lord,’ ^[e]how is He his son?” ^46 (G)No one was able to offer Him a word in answer, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him any more questions.

³⁴ I am giving you a ^(A)new commandment, ^(B)that you love one another; ^(C)just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

¹⁰ Love ^[a]does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore ^(A)love is the fulfillment of the Law.

¹⁴ For ^(A)the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “^(B)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

⁸ If, however, you ^(A)are fulfilling the ^[a]royal law according to the Scripture, “^(B)You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
