²⁶ Let’s not become ^(A)boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

¹³ Let’s ^[a](A)behave properly as in the day, ^(B)not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and debauchery, not in strife and jealousy.

¹⁹ Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: ^(A)sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, ²⁰ idolatry, ^(B)witchcraft, hostilities, ^(C)strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, ^(D)selfish ambition, dissensions, ^(E)factions, ²¹ envy, ^(F)drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not ^(G)inherit the kingdom of God.

²¹ For from within, out of the ^[a]hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, ²² deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, ^[b](A)envy, slander, ^[c]pride, and foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”

²⁰ For I am afraid that perhaps ^(A)when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be ^(B)strife, jealousy, ^(C)angry tempers, ^(D)selfishness, ^(E)slanders, ^(F)gossip, ^(G)arrogance, ^(H)disturbances;

¹⁴ But if you have bitter ^(A)jealousy and ^[a]selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against ^(B)the truth.

¹⁶ For where ^(A)jealousy and ^[a]selfish ambition exist, ^[b]there is disorder and every evil thing.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture ^(A)says to no purpose, “^[a]He ^[b]jealously desires ^(B)the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”?

^3 (A)For we too were once foolish, ^(B)disobedient, ^(C)deceived, ^(D)enslaved to ^(E)various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in ^(F)malice and ^(G)envy, hateful, hating one another.
