My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,(A)
    by night,(B) but I find no rest.[a]

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;(C)
    you are the one Israel praises.[b](D)
In you our ancestors put their trust;
    they trusted and you delivered them.(E)
To you they cried out(F) and were saved;

But I am a worm(I) and not a man,
    scorned by everyone,(J) despised(K) by the people.
All who see me mock me;(L)
    they hurl insults,(M) shaking their heads.(N)
“He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
    “let the Lord rescue him.(O)
Let him deliver him,(P)
    since he delights(Q) in him.”

Yet you brought me out of the womb;(R)
    you made me trust(S) in you, even at my mother’s breast.
