سموئیل کو خدا کی پکا ر
3 لڑکا سموئیل نے عیلی کے ماتحت میں خداوند کی خدمت کی۔ ا ن دنوں اکثر خداوند نے براہ راست لوگو ں سے باتیں نہ کی۔ وہاں رو یا عام نہ تھی۔
2 ایک رات عیلی ، جسکی آنکھیں اتنی کمزور ہو گئیں تھیں کہ وہ بمشکل دیکھ سکتا تھا ، اپنے بستر پر پڑا تھا۔ 3 خداوند کا چراغ ابھی تک جل رہا تھا سموئیل خداوندکی مقدس عمارت میں اپنے بستر پر پڑا تھا۔ خدا کا مقدّس صندوق اس مقدس عمارت میں تھا۔ 4 تب خداوند نے سموئیل کو پکا را۔ سموئیل نے جواب دیا ، “میں یہاں ہوں۔” 5 سموئیل نے سو چا کہ عیلی اس کو پکار رہا ہے اس لئے وہ عیلی کی جانب دو ڑا۔ اس نے عیلی سے کہا ، “کیا تم نے مجھے پکا را ؟ میں یہاں ہو ں۔” لیکن عیلی نے کہا ، “میں نے تمہیں نہیں پکا را واپس بستر پر جا ؤ۔” سموئیل بستر پر واپس گیا۔ 6 دوبارہ خداوند نے پکا را “سموئیل !” سموئیل دوبارہ عیلی کے پاس دوڑا اور کہا ، “جیسا کہ تم نے مجھے پکا را میں یہاں ہو ں” عیلی نے کہا ، “میں نے تمہیں نہیں پکا را واپس بستر پر جا ؤ۔”
7 سموئیل نے ابھی تک خداوند کو نہیں جانا تھا۔ خداوند نے ابھی تک براہ راست اسے پکا را تھا۔ [a]
8 خداوند نے تیسری مرتبہ سموئیل کو پکا را۔ سموئیل دوبارہ اٹھا اور عیلی کے پاس گیا۔سموئیل نے کہا ، “جیسا کہ تم نے مجھے پکا را میں یہاں ہوں۔”
تب عیلی سمجھ گیا کہ خداوند اس لڑکے کو پکار رہا تھا۔ 9 عیلی نے سموئیل سے کہا ، “بستر پر جا ؤ اگر وہ دوبارہ پکارے تو کہو ، ’ کہئے خداوند میں آپ کا خادم ہوں میں سُن رہا ہوں۔”‘
اسلئے سموئیل بستر پر واپس گیا۔ 10 خداوند آیا اور وہاں کھڑا رہا وہ پکا را جیسا کہ پہلے کہا تھا اس نے کہا ، “سموئیل ! سموئیل !”
سموئیل نے کہا ، “کہئے میں آپ کا خادم ہوں اور سُن رہا ہوں”
11 خداوند نے سموئیل سے کہا ، “میں بہت جلد اسرا ئیل میں کچھ کروں گا۔ جو لوگ اس کے متعلق سنیں گے تو انہیں حیرت ہو گی۔ 12 میں ہر وہ چیز شروع سے آخر تک کروں گا جو پیشین گوئی میں نے عیلی اور اس کے خاندان کے بارے میں کی تھی۔ 13 میں نے عیلی سے کہا کہ میں اس کے خاندان کو ہمیشہ کے لئے سزا دوں گا۔ میں وہ کروں گا کیوں کہ اس کو معلوم ہے کہ اس کے بیٹے غلط کر رہے ہیں۔ لیکن وہ ان کوقابو کرنے میں ناکام رہا۔ 14 اسی لئے میں نے وعدہ کیا کہ قربانیاں اور اجناس کے نذرانے عیلی کے خاندان سے گناہوں کو کبھی دور نہیں کریں گے۔”
15 سموئیل بستر پر پڑا رہا جب تک کہ صبح نہ ہو ئی۔ وہ جلدی اٹھا اور خداوند کے گھر کا دروازہ کھو لا۔ سموئیل عیلی سے رویا کے متعلق کہتے ہو ئے ڈررہا تھا۔
16 لیکن عیلی نے سموئیل سے کہا ، “سموئیل میرے لڑکے !”
سموئیل نے جواب دیا، “ہاں جناب۔”
17 عیلی نے پو چھا ، “خداوند نے تم سے کیا کہا ؟ مجھ سے کچھ مت چھپا ؤ وہ تمہیں سزا دے اگر تم نے خدا کے پیغام کا کو ئی بھی حصّہ مجھ سے چھپا یا تو۔”
18 اس لئے سموئیل نے عیلی سے ہر چیز کہی۔ سموئیل نے عیلی سے کسی چیز کو نہیں چھپایا۔
عیلی نے کہا ، “وہ خداو ندہے جو کچھ وہ سوچتا ہے وہ صحیح ہے کرنے دو۔”
19 خداوند سموئیل کے ساتھ اس وقت بھی تھا جب وہ بڑا ہوا۔ خداوند نے سموئیل کے کسی پیغام کو جھو ٹا نہ ہو نے دیا۔ 20 تب دان سے بیر سبع کے تمام اسرا ئیلیو ں نے جانا کہ سموئیل خداوند کا سچا پیغمبر ہے۔ 21 اور خداوند شیلاہ میں سموئیل پر ظاہر ہوتا رہا خداوند خود بطور کلام سمو ئیل پر نا زل ہوا۔

The Lord Calls Samuel
3 The boy Samuel ministered(A) before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare;(B) there were not many visions.(C)
2 One night Eli, whose eyes(D) were becoming so weak that he could barely see,(E) was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp(F) of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house(G) of the Lord, where the ark(H) of God was. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel.
Samuel answered, “Here I am.(I)” 5 And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.
6 Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
“My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.”
7 Now Samuel did not yet know(J) the Lord: The word(K) of the Lord had not yet been revealed(L) to him.
8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!(M)”
Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
11 And the Lord said to Samuel: “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears about it tingle.(N) 12 At that time I will carry out against Eli everything(O) I spoke against his family—from beginning to end. 13 For I told him that I would judge his family forever because of the sin he knew about; his sons blasphemed God,[a] and he failed to restrain(P) them. 14 Therefore I swore to the house of Eli, ‘The guilt of Eli’s house will never be atoned(Q) for by sacrifice or offering.’”
15 Samuel lay down until morning and then opened the doors of the house of the Lord. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision, 16 but Eli called him and said, “Samuel, my son.”
Samuel answered, “Here I am.”
17 “What was it he said to you?” Eli asked. “Do not hide(R) it from me. May God deal with you, be it ever so severely,(S) if you hide from me anything he told you.” 18 So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.”(T)
19 The Lord was with(U) Samuel as he grew(V) up, and he let none(W) of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba(X) recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.(Y) 21 The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed(Z) himself to Samuel through his word.

3 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4 That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.
8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child.
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
11 And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
17 And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.
18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the Lord: let him do what seemeth him good.
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the Lord.
21 And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh: for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord.
