یہویدع کا ہن اور بادشا ہ یو آس
23 ساتویں سال میں یہویدع نے اپنی طاقت دکھا ئی۔ اسنے کپتانوں کے ساتھ معاہدہ کیا۔ وہ سب کپتان تھے : یروہام کا بیٹا عزریاہ ، یہو حنان کا بیٹا اسمٰعیل ، عوبید کا بیٹا عزریاہ ، عدایاہ کا بیٹا معسیاہ اور زکری کا بیٹا الیسا فط۔ 2 وہ یہودا ہ کے اطراف گئے اور یہودا ہ کے تمام شہر وں سے لا وی لوگوں کو جمع کیا۔انہوں نے اسرائیل کے خاندانوں کے سرداروں کو بھی جمع کیا۔ تب وہ یروشلم گئے۔ 3 تمام لوگوں نے مل کر بادشا ہ کے ساتھ ہیکل میں ایک معاہدہ کیا۔
یہویدع نے ان لوگو ں سے کہا، “بادشا ہ کا بیٹا حکومت کرے گا یہی وہ وعدہ ہے جو خداوند نے داؤد کی نسلوں کو دیا تھا۔ 4 اب تمہیں یہ ضرور کرنا چاہئے : تم کا ہنو ں اور لاویوں میں سے ایک تہائی جو سبت کے دن کام پر جاتے ہیں پھاٹک کی حفاظت کرے گا۔ 5 اور تمہا را ایک تہائی شاہی محل پر رہے گا اور ایک تہا ئی بنیادی پھاٹک پر رہے گا لیکن دوسرے تمام لوگ خداوند کی ہیکل کے آنگن میں ٹھہریں گے۔ 6 صرف کا ہن اور لا وی لوگ جو خدمت کرتے ہیں انہیں خداوند کی ہیکل میں اندر آنے کی اجازت ہو گی کیوں کہ وہ مقدّس ہیں۔ لیکن تمام دوسرے آدمیوں کو خداوند نے جو کام دیا ہے کرنا چا ہئے۔ 7 لا وی لوگو ں کو بادشا ہ کے پاس رہنا چا ہئے۔ہر آدمی کے پاس اپنی تلوار ہو نی چا ہئے۔ اگر کو ئی آدمی ہیکل میں دا خل ہو نے کی کوشش کرے تو اس کو مار دو۔تمہیں بادشا ہ کے ساتھ رہنا چا ہئے وہ جہاں کہیں بھی جا ئے۔”
8 لاوی لوگوں اور یہودا ہ کے تمام لوگوں نے کا ہن یہویدع نے جو ہدایت دی اس کو پو را کیا۔ ہر ایک نے اپنے ساتھ اپنے آدمیوں کو لیا یعنی ان کو جو کہ سبت کے دن اپنے کام پرآتے اور ان کو جو سبت کے دن اپنے کام سے چلے جا تے تھے۔کیونکہ کا ہن یہویدع نے کسی کا ہن کے گروہ کو برخواست نہیں کیا۔ 9 کا ہن یہویدع نے بر چھے اور بڑی و چھوٹی ڈھالیں عہدے داروں کو دیں جو بادشاہ داؤد کی تھیں۔ وہ ہتھیار ہیکل میں رکھے ہو ئے تھے۔ 10 تب یہویدع نے لوگوں کو بتا یا کہ انہیں کہاں کھڑے رہنا ہے۔ ہر ایک آدمی اپنے ہتھیار اپنے ساتھ لئے ہو ئے تھے۔ آدمی ہیکل کے دائیں جانب سے بائیں جانب مسلسل کھڑے تھے۔ وہ قربان گا ہ ، ہیکل اور بادشا ہ کے سامنے کھڑے تھے۔ 11 وہ بادشا ہ کے بیٹے کو باہر لا ئے اور اسے تاج پہنایا۔ انہو ں نے اسے شریعت کی کتاب دی۔ تب انہوں نے یو آس کو بادشا ہ بنایا۔یہویدع اور اس کے بیٹوں نے یوآس کو مسح کیا انہوں نے کہا ، “بادشا ہ کی عمر دراز ہو۔”
12 عتلیاہ نے ان لوگوں کی آواز سنی جو ہیکل کی طرف دوڑ رہے تھے اور بادشا ہ کی تعریف کر رہے تھے۔ وہ خداوند کی ہیکل میں لوگوں کے پاس آئی۔ 13 اس نے نظر دوڑا کر بادشا ہ کو دیکھا۔بادشا ہ شاہی ستون کے سامنے دروازے پر کھڑا تھا۔ افسر اور جن آ دمیوں نے بگل بجائے تھے وہ بادشا ہ کے قریب تھے۔ ملک کے لوگ خوش تھے اور بگل بجا رہے تھے گلو کار موسیقی آلات بجا رہے تھے گلو کار تعریف کے گانوں سے لوگوں کی رہنما ئی کر رہے تھے۔ تب عتلیاہ نے اچانک اپنے کپڑے پھا ڑ ڈالے اور کہا ، “بغاوت!” “بغاوت !” 14 کا ہن یہو یدع فوج کے کپتا نوں کو باہر لایا اس نے ان سے کہا ، “عتلیاہ کو فوج کے درمیان سے باہر لاؤ۔ جو بھی آدمی اس کے ساتھ جائے وہ اسے موت کے گھاٹ اتار دے۔” تب کاہن نے سپاہیوں کو خبر دار کیا کہ عتلیاہ کو خدا وند کے ہیکل میں ہلاکت مت کرو۔ 15 تب ان آدمیوں نے عتلیاہ کو اس وقت پکڑ لیا جب وہ شاہی محل کے گھو ڑے کی پھا ٹک پر آئی۔ تب انہوں نے اس کو اس جگہ پر مار ڈا لا۔
16 تب یہو یدع نے تمام لوگوں اور بادشاہوں سے معاہدہ کیا۔ ان تمام لوگوں نے اقرار کیا کہ خدا وند کے لوگ ہونگے۔ 17 تمام لوگ بعل کے بت کی ہیکل میں گئے اور اسے اکھا ڑ دیا۔ انہوں نے بعل کی ہیکل کی قربان گاہوں اور مورتیوں کو توڑ دیا۔ انہوں نے بعل کی قربان گاہ کے سامنے بعل کے کاہن متّان کو مار ڈا لا۔
18 تب یہو یدع نے کاہنوں کو خدا وند کے ہیکل کا نگراں کار چُنا۔ وہ کاہن لاوی تھے اور داؤد نے انہیں خدا وند کی ہیکل کے لئے ذمہ داری کا کام دیا۔ ان کاہنوں کو موسیٰ کے احکامات کے مطا بق خدا وند کے لئے جلانے کا نذرانہ پیش کرنا تھا۔ وہ نہایت خوشی سے گاتے ہوئے قربانی پیش کئے جس طرح داؤد نے ہدا یت دی تھی۔ 19 یہو یدع نے خدا وند کی ہیکل کے پھا ٹک پر محافظین کو رکھا جس سے کوئی بھی آدمی جو کہ پاک نہ ہو ہیکل میں داخل نہ ہو سکتا تھا۔
20 یہو یدع نے فوج کے کپتا نوں ، قائدینوں ، لوگوں کے حاکموں اور ملک کے تمام لوگوں کو اپنے ساتھ لیا۔ تب یہو یدع نے بادشاہ کو خدا وند کی ہیکل سے باہر نکا لا اور وہ بالائی دروازہ سے شاہی محل میں گئے۔ ا س مقام پر انہوں نے بادشاہ کو تخت پر بٹھا یا۔ 21 یہوداہ کے تمام لوگ بہت خوش تھے۔ اور شہر یروشلم میں امن رہا۔ کیوں کہ عتلیاہ کو تلوار سے ماردیا گیا تھا۔

23 In the seventh year Jehoiada showed his strength. He made a covenant with the commanders of units of a hundred: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zikri. 2 They went throughout Judah and gathered the Levites(A) and the heads of Israelite families from all the towns. When they came to Jerusalem, 3 the whole assembly made a covenant(B) with the king at the temple of God.
Jehoiada said to them, “The king’s son shall reign, as the Lord promised concerning the descendants of David.(C) 4 Now this is what you are to do: A third of you priests and Levites who are going on duty on the Sabbath are to keep watch at the doors, 5 a third of you at the royal palace and a third at the Foundation Gate, and all the others are to be in the courtyards of the temple of the Lord. 6 No one is to enter the temple of the Lord except the priests and Levites on duty; they may enter because they are consecrated, but all the others are to observe(D) the Lord’s command not to enter.[a] 7 The Levites are to station themselves around the king, each with weapon in hand. Anyone who enters the temple is to be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes.”
8 The Levites and all the men of Judah did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered.(E) Each one took his men—those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty—for Jehoiada the priest had not released any of the divisions.(F) 9 Then he gave the commanders of units of a hundred the spears and the large and small shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of God. 10 He stationed all the men, each with his weapon in his hand, around the king—near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
11 Jehoiada and his sons brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him; they presented him with a copy(G) of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him and shouted, “Long live the king!”
12 When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and cheering the king, she went to them at the temple of the Lord. 13 She looked, and there was the king,(H) standing by his pillar(I) at the entrance. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and musicians with their instruments were leading the praises. Then Athaliah tore her robes and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”
14 Jehoiada the priest sent out the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops, and said to them: “Bring her out between the ranks[b] and put to the sword anyone who follows her.” For the priest had said, “Do not put her to death at the temple of the Lord.” 15 So they seized her as she reached the entrance of the Horse Gate(J) on the palace grounds, and there they put her to death.
16 Jehoiada then made a covenant(K) that he, the people and the king[c] would be the Lord’s people. 17 All the people went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols and killed(L) Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.
18 Then Jehoiada placed the oversight of the temple of the Lord in the hands of the Levitical priests,(M) to whom David had made assignments in the temple,(N) to present the burnt offerings of the Lord as written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing, as David had ordered. 19 He also stationed gatekeepers(O) at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.
20 He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people and all the people of the land and brought the king down from the temple of the Lord. They went into the palace through the Upper Gate(P) and seated the king on the royal throne. 21 All the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was calm, because Athaliah had been slain with the sword.(Q)

2 And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
3 And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the Lord hath said of the sons of David.
4 This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors;
5 And a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.
6 But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord.
7 And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
9 Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.
10 And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.
12 Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the Lord:
13 And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the Lord.
15 So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king's house, they slew her there.
16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord's people.
17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
18 Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
19 And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the Lord, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.
20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the Lord: and they came through the high gate into the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
