7 دیوار کے دوبارہ بن جانے اور میرے دروازے لگانے ، پہریداروں، گلوکاروں اور لاویوں کو بحال کرنے کے بعد، 2 میں نے اپنے بھا ئی حنا نی کو حنانیاہ کے ساتھ جو کہ قلعہ کا سپہ سالار تھا یروشلم کا نگراں کار بنا یا۔ کیوں کہ حنانی ایک وفادار آدمی تھا اور دوسرے لوگو ں کے مقابلے میں خدا سے زیادہ ڈرتا تھا۔ 3 تب میں نے ان لوگوں سے کہا ، “دن کے پو رے چڑھنے تک یروشلم کے پھاٹکو ں کو کھلنے مت دو۔ اور جب تک وہ لوگ پہرہ دیتے رہتے ہیں ا سوقت تک ان لوگو ں کو دروازوں میں تالا لگا کر رکھنا چا ہئے۔پہریداری کے کام کے لئے یروشلم میں رہ رہے لوگو ں کو چنو۔ ان میں سے کچھ لوگو ں کو پہرہ کی چوکی پر اور دوسرو ں کو انکے اپنے گھرو ں کے نزدیک پہرہ پر رکھو۔ ”
قید سے واپس ہو نے وا لے لوگو ں کی فہرست
4 اب شہر بہت بڑا تھا۔لیکن اس میں لوگ بہت کم تھے اور مکان ابھی تک نہیں بنا ئے گئے تھے۔ 5 اس لئے میرے خدا نے میرے دل میں ایک بات پیدا کی کہ میں شرفاء، حاکموں اور عام لوگو ں کی ایک میٹنگ بلا ؤں۔ مجھے ان لوگو ں کی خاندانی فہرست [a] ملی جو کہ جلاوطنی سے لوٹنے والوں میں پہلے تھے۔ اور اس میں میں نے جو لکھا ہوا پایا وہ مندرجہ ذیل ہے:
6 یہ سب صوبہ کے وہ خاندان ہیں جو کہ آزاد کئے گئے تھے اور قید سے واپس آئے تھے۔( بابل کا بادشا ہ نبو کدنضر ان لوگو ں کو قیدی بنا کر لے گیا تھا۔ یہ لوگ یہودا ہ اور یروشلم کو واپس آئے ہر آدمی اپنے اپنے شہر کو گیا۔) 7 وہ سب جو زربّا بل کے ساتھ آئے تھے: یشوع ، نحمیاہ ،عزریاہ ،رعمیاہ ، نحمانی ، مرد کی ، بلشان، مسفرت،بگوئی ، نحوم اور بعنہ۔ یہ بنی اسرائیلیوں کی فہرست ہے :

41 فَشحُور کی نسل سے ۱۲۴۷
42 حارم کی نسل سے ۱۰۱۷
43 یہ سب لاوی ہیں :
قدمی ایل سے یشوع کی نسلیں ،
یہوداہ کی نسلیں ۷۴
44 یہ سب گلو کارائیں :
جو آسف کی نسل سے ہیں ۴۸
45 یہ سب دربان ہیں :
سلوم ، اطیر ، طلُمون ، عقوب
خطیطاہ اور سوبی کی نسلوں سے ۱۳۸
46 یہ سب خدا کی ہیکل کے خادم ہیں :
ضیحا ، حسُوفا ، طبعوت ،
47 قروس ، سیعّا، فدُون،
48 لِبانا، حجابہ ، شلمی ،
49 حنان ، جدّیل ،حجار،
50 ریا یاہ ، رصین ، نقودا،
51 حزّام، عزّا ،فاسخ،
52 بسی ، معونیم ، نفو شیسم ،
53 بقبوق ، حقّوفہ ، حر حُور ،
54 بضلیت ، محیدہ ، حرشا ،
55 برقوس ، سیسرا ، تامح ،
56 نضیاہ اور خطیفاہ کی نسلیں۔
57 سُلیمان کے خادموں کی نسلیں :
سُوتی ، سُوفرت ، فریدا،
58 یعلہ ، درقُون ، جدّیل ،
59 سفطیاہ ، خطیل ، فوکرت ، ضبائم اور عمّون۔
60 خدا کی ہیکل کے سبھی خادم اور سلیمان کے خادموں کی نسل سے ۳۹۲
61 اور یہ لوگ تھے جو تل ملح ، تل حرسا ، کروب ، ادُون اور اِمّر سے چلے گئے تھے۔ لیکن یہ لوگ یہ ثابت نہ کر سکے کہ انکے خاندان اسرائیل کی نسلوں سے ہیں۔
62 یہ لوگ دِلایا ہ ، طوبیاہ اور نقودہ کی نسلیں ہیں ۶۴۲
63 اور کاہن یہ ہیں:
حبایاہ ، ہقّوص اور برزلّی کی نسلیں۔ (اگر کوئی جِلعاد کے بر زلی کی بیٹی سے شادی کرتا تو وہ اسے بر زلی کی نسل میں شامل کردیا جاتا تھا۔)
64 ان لوگوں نے اپنے خاندانی دستاویزوں کی تلاش کی ، لیکن وہ نہیں پائے۔ اس لئے ان لوگوں کو کاہن بننے کی اجازت نہیں دی گئی۔ 65 اور صوبہ دار نے ان لوگوں کو کہا کہ وہ کوئی بھی مقدس کھا نا نہیں کھا سکتے جب تک اعلیٰ کاہن اوریم اور تمیم [b] کا استعمال نہ کرے۔
66-67 کل ملا کر پوری جماعت کے لوگوں کی تعداد ۴۲۳۶۰تھی۔ اس میں سے ۷۳۳۷ مر د و عورت مرد ملازم کو کل تعداد میں شامل نہیں کیا گیا تھا۔ اور ۲۴۵ مرد و عورت گلو کار بھی تھے۔ 68-69 انکے پاس ۷۳۶ گھو ڑے ، ۲۴۵ خچّر ، ۴۳۵ اونٹ اور ۶۷۲۰ گدھے تھے۔
70 کچھ خاندانوں کے قائدین نے کام کے لئے چندہ بھی دیئے۔ صوبہ دار نے ۱۹ پاؤنڈ سونا خزانہ میں دیا۔ اس نے ۵۰ کٹو رے اور ۵۳۰ چغہ بھی کاہن کے لئے دیئے۔ 71 کچھ خاندانی قائدین نے ۳۷۵ پاؤنڈ سونا اور ۳/۱۱ ٹن چاندی بھی دیئے۔ 72 اور باقی لوگوں نے ۳۷۵ پاؤنڈ سونا کام میں مدد کے لئے خزانہ دیئے لگ بھگ ۳/۱۱ ٹن چاندی اور ۶۷ چغہ کاہنوں کے لئے دیئے۔
73 اور تب کاہن ، لاوی ، دربان ، گلوکار اور کچھ لوگ ، خدا کی ہیکل کے ملازمین اور سبھی اسرائیلی اپنے شہروں میں بس گئے۔ اور سال کے ساتویں مہینے میں سبھی بنی اسرائیل اپنے اپنے شہروں میں بس گئے۔

7 After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers,(A) the musicians(B) and the Levites(C) were appointed. 2 I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani,(D) along with Hananiah(E) the commander of the citadel,(F) because he was a man of integrity and feared(G) God more than most people do. 3 I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses.”
The List of the Exiles Who Returned(H)
4 Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it,(I) and the houses had not yet been rebuilt. 5 So my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the common people for registration by families. I found the genealogical record of those who had been the first to return. This is what I found written there:
6 These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles(J) whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town, 7 in company with Zerubbabel,(K) Joshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum and Baanah):

64 These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. 65 The governor, therefore, ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there should be a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.(X)
66 The whole company numbered 42,360, 67 besides their 7,337 male and female slaves; and they also had 245 male and female singers. 68 There were 736 horses, 245 mules,[a] 69 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.
70 Some of the heads of the families contributed to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 darics[b] of gold, 50 bowls and 530 garments for priests. 71 Some of the heads of the families(Y) gave to the treasury for the work 20,000 darics[c] of gold and 2,200 minas[d] of silver. 72 The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000 minas[e] of silver and 67 garments for priests.(Z)
73 The priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the musicians and the temple servants,(AA) along with certain of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns.(AB)

7 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.
4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.
5 And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
6 These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;

61 And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.
62 The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
67 Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
68 Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
69 Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.
71 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
72 And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.
73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
