طوفان کا آغاز
7 پھر خدا وند نے نوح سے کہا ، “اس زمانے کے لوگوں میں توُ تنہا راست باز ہے۔ اس وجہ سے تو اپنے تمام اہل خاندان کو ساتھ لے کر کشتی میں سوار ہو جا۔ 2 ہر قسم کے تمام پاک جانوروں میں سے سات جو ڑے یعنی سات نر و سات مادہ کو لے لے۔اور زمین پر کے دوسرے حیوانات میں سے ایک ایک جو ڑا لے لے۔ 3 ہر قسم کے پرندوں میں سات سات جوڑے لے لے۔ بقایا تمام حیوانات کے تباہ ہو جانے کے بعد یہ جو ڑے اپنی اپنی نسل کی افزا ئش کریں گے۔ 4 سات دن گزر نے کے بعد میں موسلا دھار بارش زمین پر بر سا نے والا ہوں۔ اور یہ بارش چالیس دن اور چالیس رات مسلسل بر سے گی۔ اور کہا کہ میں نے ان تمام جانداروں کو جنہیں میں نے اس زمین پر پیدا کیا ہے ان سب کو مٹا دوں گا۔ ” 5 خدا وند کے دیئے گئے حکم کے مطا بق نوح نے ویسا ہی کیا۔
6 جب طوفان آیا تو اس وقت نوح کی عمر چھ سو برس تھی۔ 7 پانی کے طو فان سے نجات پا نے کے لئے نوح اپنی بیوی اپنے بیٹوں اور انکی بیویوں کے ساتھ چلے گئے۔ 8 تمام پاک حیوانات اور زمین پر بسنے والے دوسرے تمام جانور اور پرندے اور زمین پر رینگنے والے تمام جاندار ، 9 دو دو کر کے ،ایک نر ایک مادہ آئے اور نوح کے ساتھ کشتی میں سوار ہو ئے جیسا کہ خدا نے اسے حکم دیا تھا۔ 10 سات دنوں بعد پا نی کا طوفان شروع ہوا۔ اور زمین پر بارش برسنے لگی۔
11-13 نوح کی عمر کے چھ سوویں سال کے دوسرے مہینے کے سترہویں دن زمین کے اندر سے سبھی سوتے پھوٹ پڑے جو کہ سمندر سے نیچے تھے۔ اور زمین پر موسلا دھار بارش برسنے لگی۔ ایسا معلوم ہو تا تھا کہ گویا آسمانی طو فان کا پھا ٹک کھل گیا ہے۔ اور چالیس دن اور چالیس رات مسلسل بارش برستی رہی۔ اس دن نوح اور اسکی بیوی اور اسکی نرینہ اولاد میں سم ،حام اور یافت اور انکی بیویاں سب کشتی میں سوار ہو گئے۔ تب نوح چھ سو سال کا بوڑھا تھا۔ 14 وہ لوگ اور زمین پر بسنے والے ہر قسم کے چوپائے بھی کشتی میں تھے۔ ہر قسم کے جانور اور زمین پر رینگنے والے جانور اور ہر قسم کے پرندے کشتی میں سوار تھے۔ 15 یہ سب چوپا ئے نوح کے ساتھ کشتی میں سوار تھے۔ سانس لینے والے ہر قسم کے جانور سے دودو جو ڑی آ گئے۔ 16 “خدا کے حکم کے مطا بق ہر قسم کے جانوروں کے نر اور مادہ کشتی میں سوار ہو گئے۔ تب خدا وند نے کشتی کا دروازہ بند کر دیا۔
17 پا نی کا یہ طو فان زمین پر چالیس دن تک رہا۔ پا نی چڑھتا گیا اور وہ کشتی کو اوپر اٹھا لیا اور وہ پا نی پر تیرنے لگی۔ ” 18 پا نی اور اوپر چڑھنے لگا کشتی زمین سے بہت اوپر تیر نے لگی۔ 19 پا نی کی سطح غیر معمولی بڑھنے کی وجہ سے بلند ترین پہاڑ بھی پانی سے ڈھک گئے۔ 20 پہاڑوں کے اوپر بھی پانی بڑھنے لگا۔ اونچے اونچے پہاڑوں سے بھی بیس فُٹ زیادہ اور اونچا ہو کر ان کو گھیر لیا۔
21-22 زمین پر بسنے والے سب جاندار مر گئے اور تمام مرد و عورتیں بھی مر گئیں۔ تمام پرندے، چو پائے ، جاندار اور ہر قسم کے رینگنے والے جانور بھی مر گئے۔ 23 اس طرح خدا نے زمین پر رہنے والے ہر ایک جاندار کو تباہ کر دیا اور ہر ایک انسان بھی بر باد ہو گیا۔ ہر ایک چو پا یہ اور رینگنے والا اور ہر ایک پرندہ بھی تباہ ہو گیا۔ اب جو جاندار باقی رہ گئے تھے وہ نوح اور وہ سب جو اس کے ساتھ کشتی میں سوار تھے۔ 24 اور ایک سو پچاس دنوں تک پا نی زمین کو گھیرے ہو ئے تھا۔

7 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family,(A) because I have found you righteous(B) in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean(C) animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive(D) throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain(E) on the earth(F) for forty days(G) and forty nights,(H) and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.(I)”
5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.(J)
6 Noah was six hundred years old(K) when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark(L) to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean(M) animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.(N) 10 And after the seven days(O) the floodwaters came on the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life,(P) on the seventeenth day of the second month(Q)—on that day all the springs of the great deep(R) burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens(S) were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.(T)
13 On that very day Noah and his sons,(U) Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.(V) 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind,(W) everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.(X) 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah.(Y) Then the Lord shut him in.
17 For forty days(Z) the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.(AA) 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[a][b] (AB) 21 Every living thing that moved on land perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.(AC) 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life(AD) in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth.(AE) Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.(AF)
24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.(AG)
