3 “اگر کو ئی شخص اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دیتا ہے اور وہ بیوی اسے چھو ڑ دیتی ہے اور دوسرے شخص سے شادی کر لیتی ہے
تو کیا وہ شخص اپنی بیوی کے پاس پھر آسکتا ہے، نہیں!
اگر وہ شخص اس عورت کے پاس لو ٹے گا تو پو را ملک “ناپاک ” ہو جا ئے گا۔
اے یہودا ہ! تم نے بہت سے یاروں کے ساتھ (جھو ٹے خدا ؤں کے ساتھ ) بدکاری کی ہے۔
کیا تم اب بھی میری طرف واپس آنے پر غور کر تے ہو؟ ”
یہ پیغام خداوند کا تھا۔
2 “اے یہودا ہ!خالی پہاڑی کی چو ٹی کو دیکھ۔
کیا کو ئی ایسی جگہ ہے جہاں تمہارے اپنے یاروں (جھوٹے خدا ؤں کے ساتھ ) کے ساتھ تم نے بدکا ری نہیں کی؟
تم راہ میں ان کے لئے اس طرح بیٹھی ہو
جس طرح بیابان میں عرب۔
تم نے بدکاری اور شرارت سے
زمین کو ’ناپاک‘ کیا۔
3 تم نے گناہ کئے،اس لئے بارش نہیں آئی۔
یہاں تک کہ مو سم بہار کے آخری بارش کا بھی نام و نشان نہیں ہے۔
لیکن تم ابھی بھی شرمندہ ہو نے سے انکار کر تی ہو۔
تمہا ری پیشانی فاحشہ کی ہے۔
تم اپنے کئے پر
شرمندہ ہو نے سے بھی انکار کر تی ہو۔
4 لیکن اب تم مجھے بلاتی ہو۔
’میرا با پ! تو میرے بچپن سے میرا عزیز دوست رہا ہے۔‘
5 تم نے یہ بھی کہا، ’خدا مجھ پر ہمیشہ غصہ نہیں کرے گا۔
خدا کا قہر ہمیشہ بنا نہیں رہے گا۔‘
“اے یہودا ہ!تم یہ سب کچھ کہتی ہو،
لیکن جہاں تک تم سے ہو سکا تم نے برے کام کئے۔”
دو بری بہنیں: اسرائیل اور یہودا ہ
6 اور یوسیاہ بادشا ہ کی حکومت کے ایام میں خداوند نے مجھ سے فرمایا: “ کیا تم نے وہ دیکھا جو بے وفا اسرا ئیل نے کیا ہے؟ وہ ہر ایک اونچے پہاڑ پر اور ہر ایک ہرے درخت کے نیچے گئی اور وہاں بتوں سے بدکاری کی۔ 7 میں نے اپنے سے کہا، ’اسرائیل میرے پاس سے لو ٹے گی جب وہ ان برے کاموں کو کر چکے گی۔‘ لیکن وہ میرے پاس لو ٹی نہیں اور اسرائیل کی بے وفا بہن یہودا ہ نے دیکھا کہ اس نے کیا کیا ہے؟ 8 پھر میں نے دیکھا کہ جب بے وفا اسرائیل کی زناکاری کے سبب سے میں نے اس کو طلاق دیدی اور اسے طلاق نامہ لکھ دیا، تو بھی اس کی بے وفا بہن یہودا ہ نہ ڈری بلکہ اس نے بھی جا کر بدکاری کی۔ 9 یہوداہ نے اپنی بدکاری پر تھو ڑا بھی خیال نہ کیا۔اس لئے اس نے اپنے ملک کو “گندہ ” کیا۔ اس نے درختوں اور چٹانوں سے زناکاری کی۔ 10 ان تمام کے بعد بھی اسرائیل کی بے وفا بہن یہوداہ اپنے پو رے دل سے میرے پاس نہیں لو ٹی۔اس نے صرف بہانہ بنایا کہ وہ میرے پاس لو ٹی ہے۔” یہ پیغام خداوند کا تھا۔
11 خداوند نے مجھ سے کہا، “اسرائیل میرا فرمانبردار نہیں رہا لیکن اس کے پاس بے وفا یہودا ہ کے مقابل زیادہ قصور تھا۔ 12 اے یرمیاہ! شمال کی جانب منہ کرو اور ان کلاموں کو کہو:
’اے اسرائیل کے بے وفا لوگو!تم لو ٹ آؤ۔‘
یہ پیغام خداوند کی طرف سے تھا۔‘
میں تم پر اب غصہ نہ ہوں گا۔
میں اب بھی تمہا رے ساتھ وفادار ہوں۔‘
یہ پیغام خداوند کی طرف سے تھا۔‘ میں ہمیشہ تم پر غصہ نہیں کروں گا۔
13 تمہیں صرف اتنا کرنا ہو گا کہ تم اپنے گنا ہوں کو قبول کرو۔
تم نے خداوند اپنے خدا کے خلاف بغاوت کی،
یہ تمہا را گناہ ہے۔
تم نے ہر ایک درخت کے نیچےغیر ملکی خدا ؤں کو
اپنے آپ کو سونپ دیا۔
تم نے میری فرمانبرداری نہیں کی۔‘
یہ پیغام خداوند کا تھا۔
14 خداوند فرماتا ہے۔ “اے بے وفا بچو! واپس آؤ!” کیوں کہ “میں خود تمہا را مالک ہوں۔ اور میں تم کو ہر ایک شہر میں سے ایک اور ہر ایک گھرانے میں سے دو لے کر صیون میں لا ؤں گا۔ 15 تب میں تمہیں اپنے خود کا چنا ہوا نیا چرواہوں کو عطا کروں گا۔ وہ تم کو عقلمندی اور دانا ئی سے آگے بڑ ھا ئیں گے۔ 16 ان دنوں تم لوگ بڑی تعداد میں ملک میں ہو گے۔” یہ پیغام خداوند کا ہے۔
“تب وہ پھر نہ کہیں گے کہ خداوند کے معاہدے کا صندوق،اس کا خیال بھی کبھی ان کے دل میں نہ آئے گا۔ وہ ہر گز اسے یاد نہ کریں گے اور اس کی زیارت کو نہ جا ئیں گے اور اس کی مرمت نہ ہو گی۔ 17 اس وقت یروشلم شہر 'خداوند کا تخت ' کہلا ئے گا۔ سبھی قومیں ایک ساتھ یروشلم میں خداوند کے نام کو اعزاز دینے آئیں گی اور پھر وہ اپنے ضدی پن کے ساتھ اپنی بری خواہشوں کی پیروی نہ کریں گی۔ 18 ان دنوں یہودا ہ کا گھرانا اسرائیل کے گھرانے کے ساتھ مل جا ئے گا۔ وہ شمال میں ایک ملک سے ایک ساتھ آئیں گے۔ وہ اس ملک میں آئیں گے جسے میں نے ان کے باپ داد ا کو دیا تھا۔ 19 “میں خداوند نے کہا تھا،
’میں تم کو اپنے فرزندو ں میں شامل کر کے
خوشنما ملک جسے قوم عمدہ و اعلیٰ ملک تصور کر تی ہے دو ں گا۔‘
تب تم مجھے 'باپ ' پکارو گے
تم پھر کبھی باغی نہ ہو گے۔
20 لیکن تم اس عورت کی طرح ہو ئے جس نے اپنے شو ہر سے بے وفائی کی!”
اے اسرائیل کے گھرانے! تم نے مجھ سے بے وفائی کی۔ یہ پیغام خداوند کا تھا۔
21 تم سنسان پہاڑیوں کی چو ٹی پر رونا سن سکتے ہو۔
بنی اسرائیل رحم کے لئے رو رہے اور انکساری کر رہے ہیں۔
وہ بہت برے ہو گئے تھے
وہ خدا اپنے خداوند کو بھو ل گئے تھے۔
22 خداوند نے یہ بھی کہا، “اے باغی لوگو! واپس آؤ۔
میں تمہیں تمہاری بغاوت سے نجات دوں گا۔”
انہیں کہنا چا ہئے، “ہاں ہم تیرے پاس واپس آئیں گے
کیوں کہ تو خداوند ہمارا خدا ہے۔
23 ٹیلوں پر مورتیوں کی عبادت بے مول تھی۔
پہاڑوں کے سبھی گرجنے وا لے ہجوم بے فائدہ ثابت ہو ئے۔
یقیناً خداوند ہمارے خدا ہی میں
اسرائیل کی نجات ہے۔
24 ہمارے باپ داداؤں کی ہر ایک چیزوں کو
جو کہ ہم لوگو ں کے بچپن کے وقت سے ان کی تھیں:
ان کے مویشیوں کے جھنڈ، بھیڑوں کے جھنڈ
اور ان کے بیٹے بیٹیوں کو ان شرم ناک چیزوں نے کھا لیا۔
25 ہم اپنی شرم میں لیٹیں اور رسوا ئی ہم کو چھپا لے۔
ہم نے خداوند اپنے خدا کے خلاف گنا ہ کیا ہے۔
اپنے بچپن سے اب تک ہم لوگوں نے اور ہمارے باپ دادا نے گناہ کئے ہیں۔
ہم نے خداوند اپنے خدا کی فرمانبرداری نہیں کی۔”

3 “If a man divorces(A) his wife
and she leaves him and marries another man,
should he return to her again?
Would not the land be completely defiled?(B)
But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers(C)—
would you now return to me?”(D)
declares the Lord.
2 “Look up to the barren heights(E) and see.
Is there any place where you have not been ravished?
By the roadside(F) you sat waiting for lovers,
sat like a nomad in the desert.
You have defiled the land(G)
with your prostitution(H) and wickedness.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld,(I)
and no spring rains(J) have fallen.
Yet you have the brazen(K) look of a prostitute;
you refuse to blush with shame.(L)
4 Have you not just called to me:
‘My Father,(M) my friend from my youth,(N)
5 will you always be angry?(O)
Will your wrath continue forever?’
This is how you talk,
but you do all the evil you can.”
Unfaithful Israel
6 During the reign of King Josiah,(P) the Lord said to me, “Have you seen what faithless(Q) Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree(R) and has committed adultery(S) there. 7 I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister(T) Judah saw it.(U) 8 I gave faithless Israel(V) her certificate of divorce(W) and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear;(X) she also went out and committed adultery. 9 Because Israel’s immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land(Y) and committed adultery(Z) with stone(AA) and wood.(AB) 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return(AC) to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,(AD)” declares the Lord.(AE)
11 The Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel is more righteous(AF) than unfaithful(AG) Judah.(AH) 12 Go, proclaim this message toward the north:(AI)
“‘Return,(AJ) faithless(AK) Israel,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,’(AL) declares the Lord,
‘I will not be angry(AM) forever.
13 Only acknowledge(AN) your guilt—
you have rebelled against the Lord your God,
you have scattered your favors to foreign gods(AO)
under every spreading tree,(AP)
and have not obeyed(AQ) me,’”
declares the Lord.
14 “Return,(AR) faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband.(AS) I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. 15 Then I will give you shepherds(AT) after my own heart,(AU) who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. 16 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark(AV) of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered;(AW) it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne(AX) of the Lord, and all nations(AY) will gather in Jerusalem to honor(AZ) the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.(BA) 18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel,(BB) and together(BC) they will come from a northern(BD) land to the land(BE) I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
19 “I myself said,
“‘How gladly would I treat you like my children
and give you a pleasant land,(BF)
the most beautiful inheritance(BG) of any nation.’
I thought you would call me ‘Father’(BH)
and not turn away from following me.
20 But like a woman unfaithful to her husband,
so you, Israel, have been unfaithful(BI) to me,”
declares the Lord.
21 A cry is heard on the barren heights,(BJ)
the weeping(BK) and pleading of the people of Israel,
because they have perverted their ways
and have forgotten(BL) the Lord their God.
“Yes, we will come to you,
for you are the Lord our God.
23 Surely the idolatrous commotion on the hills(BP)
and mountains is a deception;
surely in the Lord our God
is the salvation(BQ) of Israel.
24 From our youth shameful(BR) gods have consumed
the fruits of our ancestors’ labor—
their flocks and herds,
their sons and daughters.
25 Let us lie down in our shame,(BS)
and let our disgrace cover us.
We have sinned(BT) against the Lord our God,
both we and our ancestors;(BU)
from our youth(BV) till this day
we have not obeyed(BW) the Lord our God.”

3 They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the Lord.
2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
3 Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.
4 Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
5 Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
6 The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord.
14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the Lord.
21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the Lord their God.
22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.
23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.
24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
25 We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.
