에돔에 대한 심판
35 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다.
2 “사람의 아들아, 너는 [a]에돔을 향 해 책망하고 예언하라.
3 너는 그에게 나 주 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러 주어라. ‘에돔아, 내가 너를 대적한다. 내가 손을 펴고 너를 쳐서 황무지로 만들어 버리겠다.
4 내가 네 성들을 폐허로 만들고 너를 황폐하게 할 것이니 네가 나를 여호와인 줄 알 것이다.
5 “ ‘네가 옛날부터 원한을 품고 이스라엘 백성이 자기들의 죄 때문에 벌을 받아 재난을 당할 때 그들을 칼날에 넘겨 주었다.
6 그러므로 나 주 여호와가 분명히 말하지만 내가 너를 죽음에 넘기겠다. 네가 피 흘리기를 좋아하였으므로 피가 너를 따를 것이다.
7 내가 너를 황무지가 되게 하고 네 땅을 왕래하는 자들을 다 죽여 버릴 것이다.
8 내가 시체로 네 산을 메울 것이니 칼날에 죽은 자들이 너의 산등성과 골짜기와 시내에 엎드러질 것이다.
9 내가 너를 영원히 황폐하게 하여 다시는 네 성에 사람이 살지 못하게 하겠다. 그제서야 네가 나를 여호와인 줄 알 것이다.
10 “ ‘너는 내가 유다와 이스라엘 땅에 있는데도 이 두 민족이 너에게 속할 것이며 그 땅은 너의 소유가 될 것이라고 말하였다.
11 그러므로 나 주 여호와가 분명히 말한다. 네가 내 백성을 미워하여 보인 분노와 질투에 대하여 내가 너를 벌할 것이며 내가 너를 심판할 때에 그들에게 나를 알릴 것이다.
12 너는 이스라엘 산들이 황폐하여 네가 삼킬 밥이 되었다고 말하였으나 내가 너를 심판할 때에 너는 나 여호와가 너의 그 모욕적인 말을 들었다는 사실을 알게 될 것이다.
13 네가 나를 대적하여 자랑하며 떠들어대는 말을 나는 다 들었다.
14 나 주 여호와가 말하지만 내가 너를 황폐하게 할 때에 온 세상이 즐거워할 것이다.
15 네가 이스라엘 백성의 땅이 황폐한 것을 보고 즐거워한 것같이 나도 너에게 그렇게 하겠다. 에돔아, 내가 너의 모든 땅을 황폐하게 하겠다. 그러면 모든 사람이 내가 여호와임을 알 것이다.’ ”

A Prophecy Against Edom
35 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir;(A) prophesy against it 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand(B) against you and make you a desolate waste.(C) 4 I will turn your towns into ruins(D) and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(E)
5 “‘Because you harbored an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword(F) at the time of their calamity,(G) the time their punishment reached its climax,(H) 6 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will give you over to bloodshed(I) and it will pursue you.(J) Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. 7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste(K) and cut off from it all who come and go.(L) 8 I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.(M) 9 I will make you desolate forever;(N) your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(O)
10 “‘Because you have said, “These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession(P) of them,” even though I the Lord was there, 11 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will treat you in accordance with the anger(Q) and jealousy you showed in your hatred of them and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.(R) 12 Then you will know that I the Lord have heard all the contemptible things you have said against the mountains of Israel. You said, “They have been laid waste and have been given over to us to devour.(S)” 13 You boasted(T) against me and spoke against me without restraint, and I heard it.(U) 14 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.(V) 15 Because you rejoiced(W) when the inheritance of Israel became desolate, that is how I will treat you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir,(X) you and all of Edom.(Y) Then they will know that I am the Lord.’”
