심판과 희망
66 여호와께서 말씀하신다. “하늘은 내 보좌이며 땅은 내 발판이다. 너 희가 나를 위해 무슨 집을 지을 수 있겠느냐? 어느 곳이 내 안식처가 되겠느냐?
2 내가 우주를 창조하였으므로 이 모든 것이 생기게 되었다. “나는 겸손한 마음으로 크게 뉘우치며 내 말을 두렵게 여기는 자에게 은혜를 베푼다.
3 그러나 자기 멋대로 행하며 죄 짓는 일을 기뻐하는 자들은 소를 잡아 제사를 드려도 사람을 죽이는 것과 다름이 없으며 양으로 제사를 드려도 개의 목을 꺾는 것과 다름이 없다. 그들이 곡식을 드리는 소제는 돼지의 피를 드리는 것과 같고 그들이 분향하는 것은 우상을 찬양하 는 것과 다름이 없다.
4 내가 그들이 받을 형벌을 택하고 그들이 무서워하는 재앙을 보낼 것이다. 이것은 내가 불러도 그들이 대답하지 않으며 내가 말하여도 그들이 듣지 않고 오직 내 앞에서 악을 행하며 내가 기뻐하지 않는 것을 택하였기 때문이다.”
5 여호와의 말씀을 두렵게 여기는 자들아, 여호와께서 하시는 말씀을 들어라. “너희 형제들이 너희를 미워하며 나를 섬긴다는 이유로 너희를 따돌리고 ‘여호와께서 영광을 받으시게 하여 우리가 너희 기뻐하는 모습을 보게 하라’ 고 너희를 조롱하지만 그들은 수치를 당할 것이다.
6 성에서 들리는 왁자지껄한 소리와 성전의 요란한 소리를 들어 보아라. 그것은 여호와가 자기 원수들을 벌하는 소리이다.
7 “시온이 해산하는 고통을 겪지도 않고 갑자기 아이를 낳은 여자처럼 되었으니
8 이런 일을 듣고 본 자가 누구인가? 어떻게 나라가 하루 아침에 탄생하겠으며 어떻게 한 민족이 순식간에 생기겠느냐? 그러나 시온은 산통을 겪는 즉시 그의 자녀들을 낳았다.
9 내 백성이 탄생할 때가 되었는데 내가 어찌 태를 닫아 그들이 태어나지 못하도록 하겠느냐? 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.”
10 예루살렘을 사랑하는 자들아, 예루살렘과 함께 기뻐하고 즐거워하라. 예루살렘을 위해 슬퍼하는 자들아, 예루살렘과 함께 크게 즐거워하라.
11 어머니의 품에 안긴 아이처럼 너희가 예루살렘의 풍성한 것을 마음껏 누리며 즐거워할 것이다.
12 여호와께서 말씀하신다. “내가 예루살렘의 평화를 강물처럼 넘치게 하고 [a]온 세계의 재물이 너희에게 홍수처럼 쏟아져 들어오게 하겠다. 너희가 어머니의 젖을 빨며 그 무릎에 앉아 노는 어린 아이와 같을 것이다.
13 어머니가 자기 자식을 위로하듯 내가 너희를 위로할 것이니 너희가 예루살렘에서 위로를 받을 것이다.
14 너희가 이런 일이 일어나는 것을 보면 너희 마음이 기뻐서 원기가 왕성해질 것이다. 그때 너희는 나 여호와가 나를 섬기는 종들을 돕고 내 원수들에게는 내가 분노하는 것을 알게 될 것이다.”
15 여호와께서 불을 가지고 오실 것이며 그의 수레는 회오리바람과 같을 것이다. 그가 무서운 분노를 터뜨리고 화염으로 책망하실 것이며
16 불과 칼로 세상 모든 사람을 심판하실 것이니 많은 사람들이 죽음을 당할 것이다.
17 여호와께서 말씀하신다. “자신을 거룩하게 구별하고 정결하게 하여 우상을 모셔 놓은 정원에 들어가서 돼지고기와 쥐고기와 그 밖의 다른 부정한 음식을 먹는 자는 망할 것이다.
18 나는 그들의 생각과 소행을 알고 있다. 때가 되면 내가 예루살렘을 칠 민족들을 모을 것이며 그들은 와서 내 영광을 볼 것이다.
19 내가 그들 가운데 놀라운 기적을 행하여 살아 남아 도망하는 자들을 [b]스페인, [c]리비아, 활 쏘는 사람들이 많은 [d]리디아, 두발, [e]그리스, 그리고 내 명성을 듣지도 못하고 내 영광을 보지도 못한 먼 나라로 보내겠다. 그들이 나의 영광을 모든 민족에게 선포할 것이다.
20 너희 이스라엘 사람들이 제물용 곡식을 깨끗한 그릇에 담아 성전에 가져오듯이 그들이 온 세계에 흩어진 너희 모든 동족을 말과 수레와 마차와 노새와 낙타에 태워 예루살렘의 거룩한 산으로 데리고 와서 나 여호와에게 예물로 드릴 것이며
21 나는 그들 중 일부를 택하여 제사장과 레위인을 삼을 것이다.
22 “내가 만들 새 하늘과 새 땅이 내 앞에 항상 존속할 것이 분명한 것처럼 너희 후손과 너희 이름도 분명히 존속할 것이다.
23 매월 초하루와 안식일에 모든 민족들이 나에게 와서 예배할 것이며
24 그들은 나를 거역한 자들의 죽은 시체를 볼 것이다. 그들을 파먹는 벌레들이 죽지 않고 그들을 태우는 불도 꺼지지 않아 모든 사람에게 역겨움을 느끼게 할 것이다.”

Judgment and Hope
66 This is what the Lord says:
“Heaven is my throne,(A)
and the earth is my footstool.(B)
Where is the house(C) you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
2 Has not my hand made all these things,(D)
and so they came into being?”
declares the Lord.
“These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,(E)
and who tremble at my word.(F)
3 But whoever sacrifices a bull(G)
is like one who kills a person,
and whoever offers a lamb
is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
whoever makes a grain offering
is like one who presents pig’s(H) blood,
and whoever burns memorial incense(I)
is like one who worships an idol.
They have chosen their own ways,(J)
and they delight in their abominations;(K)
4 so I also will choose harsh treatment for them
and will bring on them what they dread.(L)
For when I called, no one answered,(M)
when I spoke, no one listened.
They did evil(N) in my sight
and chose what displeases me.”(O)
5 Hear the word of the Lord,
you who tremble at his word:(P)
“Your own people who hate(Q) you,
and exclude you because of my name, have said,
‘Let the Lord be glorified,
that we may see your joy!’
Yet they will be put to shame.(R)
6 Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple!
It is the sound(S) of the Lord
repaying(T) his enemies all they deserve.
7 “Before she goes into labor,(U)
she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
she delivers a son.(V)
8 Who has ever heard of such things?
Who has ever seen(W) things like this?
Can a country be born in a day(X)
or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
than she gives birth to her children.(Y)
9 Do I bring to the moment of birth(Z)
and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
10 “Rejoice(AA) with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
all you who love(AB) her;
rejoice greatly with her,
all you who mourn(AC) over her.
11 For you will nurse(AD) and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;(AE)
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance.”(AF)
12 For this is what the Lord says:
“I will extend peace(AG) to her like a river,(AH)
and the wealth(AI) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried(AJ) on her arm
and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,(AK)
so will I comfort(AL) you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
14 When you see this, your heart will rejoice(AM)
and you will flourish(AN) like grass;
the hand(AO) of the Lord will be made known to his servants,(AP)
but his fury(AQ) will be shown to his foes.
15 See, the Lord is coming with fire,(AR)
and his chariots(AS) are like a whirlwind;(AT)
he will bring down his anger with fury,
and his rebuke(AU) with flames of fire.
16 For with fire(AV) and with his sword(AW)
the Lord will execute judgment(AX) on all people,
and many will be those slain(AY) by the Lord.
17 “Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens,(AZ) following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs,(BA) rats(BB) and other unclean things—they will meet their end(BC) together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.
18 “And I, because of what they have planned and done,(BD) am about to come[a] and gather the people of all nations(BE) and languages, and they will come and see my glory.(BF)
19 “I will set a sign(BG) among them, and I will send some of those who survive(BH) to the nations—to Tarshish,(BI) to the Libyans[b] and Lydians(BJ) (famous as archers), to Tubal(BK) and Greece,(BL) and to the distant islands(BM) that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory.(BN) They will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20 And they will bring(BO) all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain(BP) in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,”(BQ) says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.(BR) 21 And I will select some of them also to be priests(BS) and Levites,” says the Lord.
22 “As the new heavens and the new earth(BT) that I make will endure before me,” declares the Lord, “so will your name and descendants endure.(BU) 23 From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath(BV) to another, all mankind will come and bow down(BW) before me,” says the Lord. 24 “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies(BX) of those who rebelled(BY) against me; the worms(BZ) that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched,(CA) and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”
