2 And in time past, even when Saul was king, thou leddest Israel out and in: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be captain over my people Israel.
3 So came all the Elders of Israel to the King to Hebron, and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel, (A)according to the word of the Lord, by the hand of Samuel.
4 ¶ And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem: which is Jebus, where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

2 In the past, even while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns.(A) And the Lord your God said to you, ‘You will shepherd(B) my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.(C)’”
3 When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, he made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed(D) David king over Israel, as the Lord had promised through Samuel.
