  1. 1 Chronicles 18:17 In the parallel passage in 2 Sam 8:18, David’s sons are described as priests. The Chronicler suppresses this bit of information. In his view, the priesthood is reserved exclusively to the descendants of Levi, a tribe to which King David did not belong. We see here a greater strictness in the conception of the priesthood.
