1 Chronicles 22:6-8
New English Translation
6 He summoned his son Solomon and charged him to build a temple for the Lord God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon: “My son, I really wanted[a] to build a temple to honor[b] the Lord my God. 8 But this was the Lord’s message to me: ‘You have spilled a great deal of blood and fought many battles. You must not build a temple to honor me,[c] for you have spilled a great deal of blood on the ground before me.

6 Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build(A) a house for the Lord, the God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon: “My son, I had it in my heart(B) to build(C) a house for the Name(D) of the Lord my God. 8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(E) You are not to build a house for my Name,(F) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.
