New English Translation
9 Look, you will have a son, who will be a peaceful man.[a] I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side.[b] Indeed, Solomon[c] will be his name; I will give Israel peace and quiet during his reign.[d] 10 He will build a temple to honor me;[e] he will become my son, and I will become his father. I will grant to his dynasty permanent rule over Israel.’[f]
11 “Now, my son, may the Lord be with you! May you succeed and build a temple for the Lord your God, just as he announced you would.[g]

9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace(A) and rest,(B) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,[a](C) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet(D) during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name.(E) He will be my son,(F) and I will be his father. And I will establish(G) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’(H)
11 “Now, my son, the Lord be with(I) you, and may you have success and build the house of the Lord your God, as he said you would.
