³⁹ and his brother ^(A)Asaph, who stood on his right hand, namely, Asaph the son of Berechiah, son of Shimea,

¹⁷ So the Levites appointed ^(A)Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers ^(B)Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari, their brothers, ^(C)Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

^5 (A)Asaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals,

⁷ Then on that day ^(A)David first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.

² Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who ^(A)prophesied under the direction of the king.

³⁰ And Hezekiah the king and the officials commanded the Levites to sing praises to the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed down and worshiped.
