³ for you are still fleshly. For since there is ^(A)jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking ^(B)like ordinary people?

³ If anyone ^(A)advocates a different doctrine and does not ^[a]agree with ^(B)sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine ^(C)conforming to godliness, ⁴ he is ^(D)conceited and understands nothing; but he ^[b]has a sick craving for ^(E)controversial questions and ^(F)disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between ^(G)people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who ^(H)suppose that ^[c]godliness is a means of gain.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and ^[a]hindrances ^(A)contrary to the teaching which you learned, and ^(B)turn away from them. ¹⁸ For such people are ^(C)slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of ^(D)their own ^[b]appetites; and by their ^(E)smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
