10 The Existence of Factions. Brethren, I exhort you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to be in full agreement with one another and not permit any divisions to arise among you. Be perfectly united in mind and purpose.

- 1 Corinthians 1:10 The divisions in the Church cannot be regarded simply as a phenomenon inevitable in any form of communal life. The divisions here bear on essentials; they show that the Gospel has not been understood and that people had an erroneous idea of the role of the apostles.

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a](F) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,(G) but that you be perfectly united(H) in mind and thought.
