¹³ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. ^(A)God is faithful, and ^(B)he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

¹⁷ By faith ^(A)Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,

^12 (A)Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive ^(B)the crown of life, ^(C)which God has promised to those who love him. ¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”, for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.

⁶ In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by ^(A)various trials, ⁷ so that ^(B)the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes ^(C)though it is tested by ^(D)fire—may be found to result in ^(E)praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
