¹¹It is the same and only Holy Spirit who gives all these gifts and powers, deciding which each one of us should have.

¹²Our bodies have many parts, but the many parts make up only one body when they are all put together. So it is with the “body” of Christ. ¹³Each of us is a part of the one body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But the Holy Spirit has fitted us all together into one body. We have been baptized into Christ’s body by the one Spirit, and have all been given that same Holy Spirit.

¹¹All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,^(A) and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Unity and Diversity in the Body

¹²Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,^(B) so it is with Christ.^(C) ¹³For we were all baptized^(D) by^[a] one Spirit^(E) so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free^(F)—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.^(G)
