4 ¶ Charity suffers long and is benign; charity envies not; charity does nothing without due reason, is not puffed up,

3 If I give all I possess to the poor(A) and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[a](B) but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient,(C) love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.(D) 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,(E) it is not easily angered,(F) it keeps no record of wrongs.(G)
