1 Corinthians 7:7-9

⁷for I wish all men to be even as I myself [am]; but each his own gift hath of God, one indeed thus, and one thus.

⁸And I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they may remain even as I [am];

⁹and if they have not continence -- let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn;

⁷I wish that all of you were as I am.^(A) But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.^(B)

⁸Now to the unmarried^[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.^(C) ⁹But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry,^(D) for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
