yet for us there is One God the Father, from Whom are all things, and we are[a] for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom are all things, and we are through Him. But this knowledge is not in all people. But some, by the accustomed-habit[b] of the idol until now, eat this food as[c] food-sacrificed-to-an-idol. And their conscience, being weak, is stained[d]. But food will not bring us[e] near[f] to God— neither if we do not eat are we lacking, nor if we eat are we abounding.

But not everyone possesses this knowledge.(F) Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak,(G) it is defiled. But food does not bring us near to God;(H) we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
