1 Corinthians 8:6-8
New Matthew Bible
6 yet to us there is but one God, who is the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 7 But not everyone has knowledge. For some still suppose that an idol really is something, and eat a thing as offered to the idol, and so their consciences, still being weak, are defiled.
8 Meat does not make us acceptable to God. We are neither the better if we eat, nor the worse if we do not.

New International Version
6 yet for us there is but one God,(A) the Father,(B) from whom all things came(C) and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord,(D) Jesus Christ, through whom all things came(E) and through whom we live.
7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge.(F) Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak,(G) it is defiled. 8 But food does not bring us near to God;(H) we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
