4 We are writing to tell you these things, because this makes us[a] truly happy.
God Is Light
5 Jesus told us God is light and doesn't have any darkness in him. Now we are telling you.
6 If we say we share in life with God and keep on living in the dark, we are lying and are not living by the truth.

5 This is the message we have heard(C) from him and declare to you: God is light;(D) in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness,(E) we lie and do not live out the truth.(F)
