19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us. But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

19 They went out from us,(A) but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.(B)
20 But you have an anointing(C) from the Holy One,(D) and all of you know the truth.[a](E) 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it(F) and because no lie comes from the truth.
