20 But (A)you have an anointing (B)from the Holy One, and (C)you[a] know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 (D)Who is a liar but he who denies that (E)Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 (F)Whoever denies the Son does not have the (G)Father either; (H)he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Let Truth Abide in You

24 Therefore let that abide in you (I)which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, (J)you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 (K)And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to [b]deceive you. 27 But the (L)anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and (M)you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing (N)teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you [c]will abide in Him.

20 [a]But you have an (A)anointing from (B)the Holy One, and (C)you all know. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but (D)because you do know it, and [b]because no lie is (E)of the truth. 22 Who is the liar except (F)the one who denies that Jesus is the [c]Christ? This is (G)the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 (H)Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 As for you, see that what you heard (I)from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also (J)will remain in the Son and in the Father.

The Promise Is Eternal Life

25 (K)This is the promise which He Himself [d]made to us: eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to (L)deceive you. 27 And as for you, the (M)anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing (N)teaches you about all things, and is (O)true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, [e]you remain in Him.

20 But you have an anointing(A) from the Holy One,(B) and all of you know the truth.[a](C) 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it(D) and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.(E) 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.(F)

26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.(J) 27 As for you, the anointing(K) you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things(L) and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.(M)

  1. 1 John 2:20 Some manuscripts and you know all things

20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
